Day Number 365

So once again, the last day of the year 2010. Day number 365.

The 1st of January is just another day, and counting in this unpermanant life. Like a river that flows. So do days.

I was (am actually, present tense. Still is) on Facebook. Looks like 2010 have been quite a rough year for a lot of us, an unfortunatly, I'm not excluded.

I thought this year has been quite a terrible one. I think I spent 40% of this year crying in bed. Not something good. Lots have been done and have not been done and yes, that's the past.

But to look back again, Amen this year has changed me in quite a lot of was. I made some impossible possible. I walked thorgh the streets of Paris with my two best friends, and had a Europe Vacation with my family. Travelled a lot more places this year. Something I would have never thought of. It's mind blowing actually. Boggling. Bogglyy..

See God makes things happen right? In the midst of brokeness and despair, still I managed a smile, and still the sun comes out to play during the monsoon. Like they say, they a silver lining on every cloud. Or something like that.

Turns out, this horrendous year was not so bad after all.

Spare a smile for 2011. God will be there before you in every way.

Snow travel madness

When travelling during the winter season, there will always be something more than sitting in flights.

many flights were cancelled on the 17th of December 2010 due to the snow storm.

Our flight which transitted in Dusseldorf was delayed making it impossible for us to take that route to Rome. So we had to change and wait another 8 hours for another flight that transitted in Vienna, Austria.

It was more than a flight. When rides are fun in theme parks, the exact same situation was not so fun on a plane going through turbulance and strikes of lighthning that sparks a wild imagination in mind : A burning motor on flight.

With buckets of cold sweat and gripping my sisters hand so tightly, tears ran down when I applaud for the pilot during landing.

So than, hello Roma.

Videos : Istanbul Summer 2010

Here's a few videos I never got to upload to Youtube. I'll start uploading all of my videos during travel now incase anything happens to my computer. T.T (then at least I still have them)

This was taken in the grounds of Sultan Ahmed during the Simit Festival. Yeah no kidding, a festival for their local Turkish bagel.

This is a vidoe of one of the street buskers during the Festival. The moment she put the frying pan looking thing on the ground, I thought she was a snake charmer. Looks like shes an exotic musician. =)

This one is a performance during the festival.

Enjoy!

Don't talk your talk.

We know women. (Obviously, because I am of the species)

And we obviouly know how women talk. *slaps forehead*

And it annoys me soo much to see a lot of them degrading themselves as they speak, weather verbally or on the net.

no 1 : we know you are emotional
no 2 : we know you have problems
no 3 : ok, I admit your problems are bigger than mine

but you know what? It also does not give you the freedom to embaress yourself on the net, in the supermarket, on the road or even in the toilets.

You don't have to go on Facebook to tell the whoever is on your friends list that people are gossiping about you and dissing them like they are on your friends list (and you've put your profile to private), so called so that they can read your status. See, now the world knows that you're being gossiped and tadaa.. even more gossips. Still does'nt solve your so called jealeous enemy problem. And to think you're recruiting followers? I don't really think so.

Guys : *pfftt women*

Your talk, your deeds, your thoughts, they resemble who you are.

Think before you act maybe? If not, you're just another fool being a disgrace to the 'woman' race.

You know what??

what? *acts sarcasticly, as if I care* or answer with do "I look like I care?"

those were them teenage days long time ago. Kids are much rude nowadays. I think it's the effect of cows milk and sugar poisoned Cola. It makes you both smart, stupid and annoying at the same time.

So I have not been updating this week. I'm actually not even sure what's been going on in my head. To be honest, I don't know if anything is going on *dancing in a dark room of nothing*.

So lets talk about simple things. Like you know when you meet and aquaintence down by the street. So haw have thing been going lately? Are you really going to tell them what you did since 5 days ago? I would just answer, "owhh nothing, I'm fine" *super big smile*

Then again there would be some people you truthfully would want to tell them your story since you woke up last week. Sometimes I really would honestly like to tell people what I go through. But than again, I always think it's none of their business to worry about me *even if they worry sincerely*. So I would rather not worry, deceiving myself because hell everytime I wake up from bed, I'll be counting my steps to the year 2015. See I'm cookoo. Yes, I let myself know that. I'm keep on mumbling alone thank you. And no, I still don't really want to talk about my lonely life in an unknown land where people think I'm so happy.

Anyway, I had fun though today. I went present shopping. And finally managed to get some for people I'm suppose to buy for instead of myself. That RC SLS AMG looked really hot though. I would really like to bring it out in the summer and smile alone watching it. Owh and I drenched my winter boots in the snow, which now looks like I've been out looking for durians in December. Yesterday was hell of a storm. Today, all cars parked outside looked like cute little Mochis.

Yeah, and I find it relaxing to have some sliced watermelon after a day out in the snow.

So, how are you?

Mouth Slip.

When things happen in shock, we say funny vicious things.

The Malay word for it is melatah.

So better watch your mouth.

Hope you enjoy! Have a great week ahead!

She Graduated. I'm Happy.

She thinks it's not much, but I think it's a lot more than that.

Today is my sisters convocation, graduating Diploma in Library Science from UiTM Kota Samarahan. I'm actually down that I can't be sitting in the hall watching her in her robe shaking hands with white headed people, or be present in her graduation potrait and family potrait that would hopefully be hanging in the walls of the house to remind her of that special day. I'm trying not to tear. I really wish I am home now.

She says it's only a Diploma. Well, Lily Humprey wants Serena van der Woodsen to have a Diploma and to Chuck Bass, it's only an accessory. I think it's a great achievement. Even if it's just a Diploma. Those days you went through, sleepless nights, the search of a functioning printer and all the hassle. Why isn't there a reason to celebrate?

I think you should. I have great respect for people who went through mountains and valleys to get a certificate because honesly, I'm not even halfway there. It's hard work, hard hard work. And it's a day you should at least make important. A day of achievement.

You remember the first time you got the offer? How you hated it? You were about to change your course after your first semester. How much have your opinion towards your field change after just a few years? I think that's a lot to celebrate for, now that you're majoring in the exact same field and loving it!

I'm proud of you Changi. I know mummy is too.

Have a Blessed 6th of December 2010. Congratulations on your Convovation.
Thank God for today. *tearing*

Fluffy left us =(

I don't know how cruel humans can be ...

... but we think our new family puppy has been poisoned and today she has to leave the family.

when mummy just got her from Serian

I have'nt met my new puppy since it became a member but I've heard so many stories about it. It's playful and fun and jumps around and barks like an ordinary dog would do. It even poses for the camera.
So what if it's a local dog? Does it make it any less of a dog? No integrity? A disgrace? God made different species for reasons right? Or maybe some people just don't believe in God. It breaks my heart that anyone would actually do somthing to get rid of it.

My family needs dogs to take care of us. We owe our pets a lot. Much more than anyone could use being a dog as a curse phrase. I don't see how being a dog can be so inglorious. Nowdays even humans are worst off compared to animals. Obviously not a lot of people knows how it is when you owe your life to your dog.

See, my family is all girls. And it's kind of hard where your house is under the radar of every possible convict because we are of the female species. Yes, we are weak. And when you are weak physically, people take advantage of you. People come and spy on your house, dig your padlocks and try any way possible to strip you away from what you have. It scares the hell out of you when one day you wake up and there are traces that people have been trying to rob you at night. Yes, I have gone through the experience of being robbed.

That's why we have our family pet to take care of us. To guard us. God gave us dogs to take care to us when we don't have a man in the house. Dogs are womens greatest friends and could even be their accessories.

But why did Fluffy furball had to leave?? I was looking foward to playing in the backyard with her. =(

Pre Holiday Madness

Looks like people have been out shopping a lot these days. Hopefully to bring income to the EU countries after the fiery debate on helping one another. Stores have been filled up to the brim since then. In comparison to last year, more are out on the spree this year though the weather's harsh.

And yesterday I was out in München to get a few stuff and simply just walk aroud to get the hoilday spirit going. It was hardly walking aroud. It felt like being in a mob or going to a concert where you can't see anything in front of you except the persons back and it's like a stagnant mosh pit.

People are everywhere! Even the stores are so packed. To say that they are avoiding the cold winter outside, outside is even more jam packed with so many human beings. I had to take turns just to choose gloves, wait half an hour just to purchase my stuff. A four storey store has more customers than it could even take in. And a silly lady has to just make things horrible by paying in both cash and card. 140€, 100€ by card and 40€ by cash. WTH. The line was already super long and the sales assistants look like they have been working since last week.

With everyone holding more plastic bags than they could, I can say economy will be looking good for Germany. Holding a Hirmes bag with pratically nothing inside. I wonder if that makes you a customer.

Obviously people, Christmas is in the air. Christmas markets are standing against the weather and the giant christmas tree is standing tall in the Marienplatz. Once again the air is filled with the scent of roasted almonds and cinnamon, people clading their Glühwein cups chatting marrily, it's a good sign all. They have gotten their Christmas going and buying lots of Christmas wrappers to make little kids happy.

What have you got wrapped up for your loved ones this year? I hope it's the gift of God. Coz that's what Christmas is about.

Christmas Legos

These Christmas themed Legos are so super cool!!

What do you think?

I wish I have a room big enough to buy them all, set them up and put them on display. Gosh.. I wish I had this kind of stuff when I was younger.

5-12 years old? Yes! I am!

Cucur Udang Please...

Back from class. Not intending to rummage trough the snow storm again. I realized that today is the first day of December.. Hello 20100 in 30 days! So how was your 2010? Mine has been quite a pain in my fat ass. I guess I went through it well. Much preserverence. So much seeds I've sown Hopefully plenty will grow. One day. Many years to come. Like a mighty durian tree.
And while I'm still in awe that December is here, I've been doing lots of eye cleansing. Online shopping is the only way I can survive in the cold. Than I realized. Birthdays in a few days time and I still have'nt gotten anything for gifts. *no I'm not getting you a 200€ VW Lego, hang pi beli sendiri*

Especially to you, daman susah to find the right gift. Please appreciate our efforts. Meeting undercover done a few times. Still can't get anything. I'm still looking. Sorry if it arrives late... or does'nt at all *jk*

While clicking on every online shopping website I possibly can, my stomach is already sulking. The winter makes you hungry every 30 minutes. I don't want to be a hibernating bear. =(

So I had to make myself some cucur udang adabi.

tadaa~~

The only thing is that

Yesterday I had mi sedap for lunch which expired in June.
To me if it's a packet and it's called instant, I don't really bother if it's expired. Obviously my body still takes it in without much harm.

One thing good about the degraded temperature is

Putting things out to be cold. A freezer is not much needed. =)

I try to be thankful above all curcumstances though. But I think in this cold weather, I would really like some crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside cucur udangs.

owhh look!! I found Ps Tim holding a plateful of cucur udang on Google.
=)
(do visit Asam House in IOI Puchong)

Mun la Siang-Siang blakang rumah ya blakang rumah aku sitok juakk.. bukan stakat cucur udang, lok-lok semua aku sapu ko..

If it's cold outside, what's your comfort food?

Obviously White Winter

Call me an extremist. When it's hot, I turn red, when it's cold, I turn red.
I'm not blushing ok! =P I'm a human lobster.

I'm not so great when it comes to weather changes. Or even when it rains, or even when I'm out in the snow without something above my head. Yes I earn the doctors lots of money due to my frequent visits.

back from class

A few days a go my junior was so excited about the snow asking when it'll come.
Another answered : ko tau dh snow kalau kau gi bilik Ruth dia asyik complain sejuk.
(Hamboi... cantik sikit mat!)
Yeah, I'm well known in my circle of friends for sensitivity towards extreme weather.

Over the years living in a four seasoned country, I still wail when winter is knocking at the door. I'll be watching out my window for the rain to stop (it rains alot when it's winter), and would probably be out only during light snow where wind is not present.

todays snow fall has almost reached my knees

It's fun actually being out in the snow. But as the mighty wind gets in your face and big raindrops at 0°c his your face, it's not very fun.

And everytime it's -2°c and I have to go out for classes, I'll imagine this situation back home.
It's 1pm after class and the sun is shining extremely hot. The car that has been parked out without any shade. Open its door and lets see who will voulenteer to sit inside the car and close the door first!Definately not me T.T It's like a Tupperware heated in a microwave oven for 2 minutes!
*winter wind slaps my face* OK WALK FASTER!!

Advent starts Tomorrow.

Tomorrow is the first day of Advent.
Christmas markets are sprouting everywhere to mark the beginning of Advent and will be on till the 23rd of December. Christmas Markets are very sepecial here, especially in Germany. It gives you a 'more' Christmassy feeling. Since now it's snowing and the temperature somtimes is below 0, yes, it does feel like the Christmas Season that we used to watch in Home Alone those days.

And everytime I go on to eBay, it's counting down how many days to Christmas. As of today, there's 27 more days to go before Christmas. Since the middle of November, shops have started sales for Christmas and stock clearance for Autumn.

Some may have put up their Christmas trees and start wrapping presents. Some may have started Christmas Carolling practices and planning for their Christmas party.

Every child would hope to receive what has been on their list since last Christmas. I remember back in those days when Christmas was a season to look foward to. It's also the school holidays and every night would be a possible Christmas Gift hunt in town. I always spend a lot of time looking for the right gift, and that means many trips to the malls to figure out what would be the best, lists my ideas and think about it and go on my mission once more. I don't really like gving gifts that are impracticle or ones that would be sitting in the corner collecting dust. I'd rather buy you a frying pan or a bed sheet rather than a crystal deco or a photo frame. Maybe I'll even buy a mosquito repellent as a gift.

Owhh.. well, it's the thought that counts right? Mine I put in energy, ideas and foot aches. But now they have Internet shopping. So no worries.

Last week I was out in München for Harry Potter and the Deadly Hollows Part 1. I'm not as much a Harry Potter fan as my sister is, but I do watch it sometimes. And I think it's really good. As in a good movie for someone not a big fan. It has more action to it and has way more actio compared to the first one when they were still little. This one they even showed a naked Harry kissing Hermoine. ahahaa.. So how did you like it?

And in Marien Platz in München, they had an open ice skating ring.

How cool is that?
I wish I knew how to ice skate properly and not tumble over the little kiddies who are still trying to learn. I would be quite embarress to ice skate in public, especially in a place like this. All thie kids were profis doing turn and tricks. If I was in that ring, I'll be holding on to the side or falling on my butt. So much for Sunway Pyramid ice skate many years ago.

They had this little bear thing for support for those little children who are still learning. I'm too big for that. *shy*

It's SNOWING!

I woke up expecting things to be like yesterday. Obviously one thing has changed.

It's -1°c. An I really hoped that snow would come later this year than it did the previous years.

But then ...

... the whole place was already coated white while I was still in slumber.

It's time to keep yourselves warm people. =)

Everyone has wings!

Air Asia promised us that everyone could fly.

Now it went a little it too much by giving everyone a pair of wings!!

Be happy for now Air Asia does not only fly to London but also to Paris!

Now no one has a reason for not exploring the world! Stop smoking and drinking for two months and you'll be stepping in a whole new continent. (And also step out of shallow mindedness)

How amazing is Franz Ferdinand Tony Fernandes?
He's like a magic Genie! That's what happens when you dare to think out of the box. Not only you make your own dreams come through, but also the dreams of others.

Ok now on the search of a rm500 ticket back to Malaysia. =P

Hostels are for the young at heart!

Today's the 25th. Five days to go till the end of the month. How many of you are excited? I know I am. That's two more weeks to something really special for me. Something that I never ever knew would actually happen. Till then, it's a secret ;)

For this big secret, lots of planning has to be done. And planning involves time, brain juice and patience. And today, I'll be doing it on accomodations during travel.

shh.. it's a secret =)

Since I've started travelling much, one thing I've done the most is going to reviews of hostels and hostels.  Picking out the best price, location and of course, away from bed bugs and prostitutes.

I'm much of a traveller than a tourist. A traveller makes an adventure out of every situation. A tourist rides in airconditioned coaches and are mostly Asian with fishermen hats. And I certainly do not accomodate in hotels, wether they rate 1 or 5 star. I don't think a student like me could afford living in a hotel during travel (unless somebody offers to pay the bill).

Most of the time, my friends and I stay in hostels. The first time I heard of hostels was when they were stories about boarding schools. My first hostel experience was a six bedded room shared with Canadian travellers in Switzerland. The room had lockers, a mirror and  sink. We hardly saw our room mates. They came in at 3am and left at 6am.

Be happy

When usually I used book my accomodations through hostelworld.com, now I do it through hostelbookers.com because apparently, they are cheaper. For more reviews on accomodations that are less popular, look up the place on tripadvisor.com

Talk your whole night through

And why is a Hostel better especially for young energetic people?
  • You'll be out before sunrise and be back a few hour before the repeat of the sunrise. And tell me why those couple o hours should be in a room costing 120€ per night? You hardly even move the sheets.
  • Meeting other people that would potentially be your partner? LOL *kidding*
  • Young people have less money than older people. Hostels are cheap. Some are dead cheap. Weather you share a room with four people or sixteen people. The more the cheaper.
  • Most hostels have a kitchen. If not, they do serve breakfast at an affordable price (just don't expect Hilton style, I said affordable). In these kitchens, you can cook instant noodles, pizzas, pasta, anything you wish. Even better if there's a supermarket nearby. I love that!
  • If you can't satnd sharing a bathroom with other people, there are some that have ensuites.
  • You can have the whole room to yourself and your 7 other friends.
  • It's fairly a more friendly place compared to a hotel.
Play Bartender maybe?

As things always comes with a price, it's always a guide to be careful when choosing accomodations. Reviews are there to be read! Actually it's kind of hard to find a good place that fits the wants and needs of everyone.
  • Some places are old and run down. Pick the best ones.
  • It's all about location! Yu don't want to be wasting 90 minutes of your time just by sitting in a transportaion to and fro.
  • It might not be the best. Stay comfortable by bringing your own fleece blanket or a small pillow. Sometmes earplugs might do the trick. (Young people means lots of noise!)
  • Safety first. In the naughty streets of Europe, be careful.
  • Some places do not accept credit card. Always have cash in hand.
Maybe a hostel is not a place you would want to bring your parents to. But for  those of you below 40 *smirk*, I think you are out to see the world, In a few years time maybe you can have your spa treatment in a resort. Till then why waste your young energy and spirit.

Most Asians, Malaysians are not used yet to this Hostel concept (unless it means boarding school which most of us are familiar with), but I hope that it grows in the future.

It's time to explore explorers!!

Saya sepasang kaca mata

Macam Harry Potter. Sekarang kan musim Hary Potter tangah panas. Dia pun mencuba banyak cermin mata. Aku segan dengannya. Dia tak perasankan aku pun. Dia asyik nak cuba kaca mata lain yang berdesignkan Havana. Design Havana tu macam design 80an. Kalau kamu ingatlah. Zaman datuk nenek muda-muda dulu.

Aku pun dah naik mual sebab dia tengah mencuba kaca matanya dia depan kanta-kanta ku.

Tiba-tiba, dia perasan akan kehadiran ku. Goodbye Havana glasses! Dia pun keliru ingin memilihkan ku atau adikku. Dia pun mulai percubaan kaca matanya berulang-ulang kali. Aku seronok dapan melompat-limpat atas batang hidungnya walaupun penyet. Akhirnya gadis ini memilihku sebab dia kata aku menampakkan biji matanya lagi cerah. Yipee! So long adikku! Seronok aku.

Macam sexy Librarian. huahahaa

okay. Enough.
Yak, congrats on your chance in Auditing experience. This is for you. =) laugh at me.

Don't be proud of your Ignorance - P. Diddy

Sometimes it really annoys me to be talking to some people who thinks being ignorant is cool or smart or whatever he or she thinks about it.

Not knowing something is not a key to being wise.

So I've drawn a cartoon in two different scenarios.

You get the picture right?

I'd rather be talking to people like this ..

It's not about being a smart ass or a know-it-all. (So what if people think you are anyway? You're smarter than they are). In a way, I learn a lot from them.

Your speech shows how mature you are in a way and how shallow or deep your minds are.

I know a lot of us meet foolish people everyday. Some are even surrounded by them.
I try my best to avoid them.

The wise man build his house upon the Rock
The foolish man build his house upon the sand

I'm tired of using Technology

I find it soo annoying how much we have to rely on technology.

Kind of pissed really. My PC crashed a few times on Thursday due to some stupid antivirus scam. And since my friend says it's kinda hard to delete the dumb antivirus programme, he just reformat my comp.

I hate to reformat my computer. It makes it so empty and I don't know. I don't feel comfortable with it. I don't have what I want. Now I even have to reinstall Microsoft Office. Ish! annoying laa!

I started to do backup on my hard disk before he reformat it and it crashed on me 3 times while I was transferring all my files. *throws fits* I'm not that patient when it comes to these kind of things.

Someone please reassure me that Google Chrome is so much better than Mozilla Firefox because I'm using Google Chrome now. It's so freakingly turtley slow. Maybe I should blame the internet connection. But it wasn't this slow before it crashed. Now I don't even have the patience to sit in front of the PC. It's like those dial up connection at home. urghh!

I wish that I do not have to rely so much on technology. Please send me to a jungle or island far away to play with the monkeys. I can't name my personal island Reeyau though. =( I bet it'll be so much fun than Riau Island.

And when I went out to buy paint and glue for my R8 ... the shop closed down. Things are always not there when you need them. I thought of painting it with my nail polish.

Randomly I'll tell you guys about the scary wheather lately.
For the past few nights it has been really windy. Super strong winds that leaves the window vibrating and banging, although shut. It was at 4 am that I woke up saveral times to see if there we any bicycles flying around. It sounded that scary that I had to wake up to see if nature was ok.
Maybe if anything happened, I'll be in time to record it and sell a footage to CNN. But all I got was some people partying in the kitchen of the other block. darn it.

Ok. I'll write again when I'm not pissed with the PC.

Being in an unknown land

Risks are a part of life. Weather it's awaited, seen or not. It's what we live in everyday.

Traveling in a lot of ways is a huge risks.

Raining... Another flight delay.

Missing your flight is a risk,
an unapproved entrace to another country is a risk,
a volcano eruption is a risk,
a bomb explotion is a risk (and Thank God bombs did not explode in Taksim Square or Athens while I was loitering around or in the German Chancellors office while I was happy leaping taking a jumping photo)
being kidnapp and sold is a risk (freaked me out after I watched Taken)
having your Bank Card barred and you have no cash is definately a risk (yeap Athens again)
what more is there to say when your passport and wallet is gone after the subway ride in Barcelona?
or get desprately lost and you don't speak the local language?

making lost look sweet and pretty. haha..

It take a lot of courage to go wondering around in another persons land. Everything is unknown and most people do not speak English (some thinks all Europeans speak fluent English).

It made me smile when I was sitting next to an elderly couple in the Ataturk Airport in Istanbul. The man and his wife were looking at us creating this masterpiece and were wondering where we were from. They do not speak english. Amazingly communication is better through gestures. When he saw my name written on the package, he was like ''Ouhh.. Ruth. Latin. Good good.'' *thumbs up* I just smiled. Maybe he spoke Latin. I'm no where near to speaking latin unless it's Ora et Labora and Amere et Servire.

Maybe another story on how to be a cheapskate traveller.

In another scenario, I was gladly leaping and taking pictures in Paris Disneyland. And most of the kids that I took pictures of, their parents do not speak English. Maybe French, Italian, Spanish, Catalan, Portugese usw. That's how you know how big the world is. And I just take pretty pictures of their princesses.

Her face painting was so pretty.
I think her mum spoke Catalan or Portugese (cos it doesn't sound Spanish).

It takes even more guts to run around in an airport a milisecond before your departure and the announcement is only in the local language or the language of your destination. While waiting for my flight to France, the announcement was in German and French. Not really a good example because I speak German. hahaa.. ok another example : On my flight to Athens, the announcement was in Turkish and Greek. =P

The world is a lot different on the otherside. And I thank God I have the chance to explore it. I get to meet people, experience different cultures and just get lost poking my head into every single thing I can  take chance in.

One thing for sure is that I know I've changed my mindset  in quite a lot of ways. I hope that made me better.

Risks are sometimes unbearable, scary but why stop there? Life is a risk itself.

I know for sure I'm not going to stop going places.

note : Now is study time, not run around travel time. If you're waiting for travel posts, wait for next month =D

Yeah 90s. You RoCk!

One thing for sure is that I cannot live without music. I practically write the diary of my life in accordance to music. In each and every memory in my life, there's sort of like a theme song to every event. I always get stares when i sing almost every song that is played. How do you even know the lyrics?? T.T Yeah, I get that a lot.

So today I would like to elaborate my past according to music in the 90s. Haha. Than in 10 years when I read this, I'll go oww I remember that song and start singing it.

hello Miss Roxette. Going for a Joyride?
She says hello, you fool, I love you! Join the joyride ~
(way before I knew how to pronounce joyride. That time it was joride)

Why this song is stuck in my life since the last decade is because I used to go on night rides with my dad and this song will play on the radio/cassette. It went that long, yeap since my dad was still alive. I rarely stepped into kindergarten at that time. Below 5 I guess...

Another song that reminded me of him so much is Daddy cool by Bonny M. Another epic night ride with my dad and we just bought a new strawberry perfume for the car =)

As i entered primary school, we used to have frequent trips to Damai for the weekends because my mum has to work the night shift. A >1 hour ride to Damai at that time was a killing spree for a child like me. Beside playing adding up plate numbers and extracting them or doing comparisons like long, longer, longest, we used to listen to Easter King who is a Gospel singer.

And the four of us would never ever forget our Jungle Jamboree cassette.
If you can laugh like a Hyena. In the Jungle Jamboree..

Good stuff for kids. I was also a big fan of the show Kidsongs. yeay!!
we are the kid songs. tapping our feet. Soon everybodys gonna move to the beat.

Grooving and moving.

Dinner in front of the TV with songs like
Celine Dions It's all coming back to me

This was once soo famous when I was in Primary three. Everyone wanted to sing it for the schools singing competition!

I'm turning my head, up and down,
turning turning turning turning turning around
and all that I can see is just another lemon tree.
Lemon Tree by Fools Garden.

made famous the same time as No Doubts Don't Speak.
Long before Gwen Stefani made it solo.
It was than 1997.

The next year, Titanic was made famous.
I can even play my recorder to My heart will go on

And of course we can't forget the list of boy and girl bands. =)

Spice Girls
if  u wanna be my lover u've gotta get with my friends.
Too much Girl Power. We could even do the hand clap in their Stop video.
No girl is complete without  going crazy about Spice Girls and picking out who to be who.
I was Posh Spice.

Backstreet Boys
Every Christmas favorite during the 90s. Even now, we try to get the excitement of those times. We still play BSB during Christmas. That's how much it impacted our life.
We even sing it together on Sykpe. Hahaa..

On the first day, when I saw your smiling face,
honey I knew that we would be toghther forever ...
uuu when I asked out, you said no but I found out,
darling that you've been hurt
you said that you'd never love again...

Guess what song this is. Hahaa.. I was singing while typing.

5ive
Another family favorite among us cousins. Which made it our theme boy band (is there such thing?) during our school holidays in the year 1998.
Though a boyband, they made quite a number of really good songs about life.
Like how I listen to Keep on moving at times when I'm down.

I know it's not much but it's ok
Keep on moving on anyway

A1
Someone lied to me saying that they we coming to Kuching for a private function.
I still remember ok!! Ngaku NOW!! hahaa..
Sweet and charming 4 man band. Like a rose was a big hit.
My favorite was Ready or not because the video was super cute.

98°s
Don't say you don't know 98° if you know who Jessica Simpson is. Pfft~~
Also one I used to listen to on the way home from school in the Merc. (I remembered it that specifically)
Someone hid her sisters Alanis Morrisette cassete and another person was a chirping bird, told the bad tale so the person who hid the cassette got smacked in the head.
Shame on your twitter chirping bird.

911
Lee Spike Jimmy.
we even had a lyric book and did the rap faster than them in Bodyshaking. Hahah

You've got my body shaking
Sends a shiver to my soul
I didn't get no warning
You got me shaking to the bone
Yeah and we dance along their choreography. *shy*

Aqua
One video clip of Aqua that scared me was We belong to the sea, when the bald guy became a goldfish.
I was damn frightened of that video.
And of course thinking of Aqua makes people think of their famous hit Barbie Girl.

Wild Orchid
Although Talk to me was a one hit wonder, try guessing whose strong voice it was behind the song.
Yes it was Miss Fergalicious. Fergie was a member of the 3 part Wild Orchid.
They were not that famous in the 90s.
But I still remember their song as I entered my aunty's car after school in the hot Malaysian weather.

Atomic Kitten
They had a video clip running in a hamster ball.
And why would a child sing (naive much)

Come on baby do it to me good now do it to me slowly...
be your one and only
do it to me right now

Obviously Kerry got it good from Bryan Westlife. T.T
And got pregnant with Bryan McFadden's child. I was furious and did not like Atomic Kitten After that. Because I was in love with Bryan McFadden. =P

Obviously I need not say much bout Westlife and NSYNC. =D

A lot became one hit wonders of the 90s.

But none can beat Backstreet Boys, 5ive, Spice Girls, Westlife and N'SYNC.
Not even Justin Bieber!!

ouh ouh my favourite!!
I'll finish this with Sugar Ray!!

When it's over, that's the time I fall in love again

They may be young

but one thing's for sure, do not underestimate people despite their age.

After my Masterchef Australia Season 2 fever, I've recently got it going for Jr Masterchef Australia which was aired in Australia in August. I just downloaded it recently and have watched half of it. I don't know if there has been any other show like this for young kids below 13 who has passion to cook.

It's pretty amazing to watch young children at work in the kitchen. Like an 11 year old making pasta from scratch and moussaka in an hour.  They don't even make simple stuff like I expected. They make real restaurant like dishes superbly like they have been doing it for years.

Pierre from Jr Masterchef Australia

This young fellow should already have his own restaurant.

Lucy and Gary.

See how tiny they are in size, but you've got to love what they do.

When I was in primary school, I joined the cooking club as an extra curricular activity. If this were to be in Malaysia 10 years ago, I would have been in it. I'm amazed how they nurture their children to be positive and build them up in something they really like, take a hobby seriously and just simply support them.

Normally in an Asian home, children are not even allowed in the kitchen unless they are living in poverty. If not, the elders will be so afraid that children will set the house on fire or kill themselves while playing with knives. These kids are totally the opposite!

Shows like this should be done more often. Watch it. It's good for kids and also adults!
