Anih.agah.kam... yung?

Today marks the 4th year of her absence. How time flies so fast but I still come home expecting her to be in her room waiting for my return even if it's not from school. Even if I've grown up to come home only during semester breaks, I still come home expecting her presence on her bed sewing pieces of cloth to make quilts.

Now she's always a topic of our conversations between cousins and how much we miss her. It would always fills tears in our eyes, her loss and how she would not be there to tell us things we most of the time would not want to hear.

Her uncountable nyonya kebayas will still be in her room together with many pieces of batik sarongs she always preserves. She always says that it will be pringatan, memories of her. Yes they are.

I miss her cooking, her voice her wrinkled skin when I touch them. How her feet is bridged on one side due to accidents in her younger days making her not able to wear beautiful heels she always wants. How she would tell the kampung people that she always has to go back to Kuching to take care of her two granddaughters who are still so young despite we were already old enough to leave home.

She really was a strong lady inside and the most beautiful on the outside. How she would tell her granddaughters to dress up nicely and to be pretty no matter in what situation. She would buy us dresses on her vacations and play dress up with us with mummys jewelery. She molded all her seven children to become professionals and to be responsible with a heart of gold. She was one amazing women.

The memories of how I cried so much during her passing and could still remember it vividly. How she suffered so much from cancer, how she would not let me touch her skin after her visit from chemo. How she so much disliked it that she has to breath oxygen through tubes saying that they hurt. How her body became weak day by day and she lost so much weight.

Every year when it comes to this day, I would have dreams of her, how she's always by my side. I still wake up to cry in the early mornings when I dream of her.

Tayung, aku masih lagi nitih akam.

Once.Upon.A.Dream

No one who grew up being under the care of Disney would not go crazy stepping into the world of dreams.

Disneyland is next on the list.
We woke up at 7am just because of Disney. Our excited 22 year old hearts turned to 4 year olds and we were going out of our minds. The journey to Disneyland was almost an hour by train from the place we stayed. We were doubting about the ticket price but thanks to Ms Pame for the info. Yeay!! We got our student price at the counter after they photostatted our student ID.

Normal price would be 57€ for a 1 day pass for 2 parks or 1 day pass for 1 park at 47€.
A great deal with 43€ for a day pass for 2 parks. *gleaming like hell*

At the end of the day, we didn't manage to go to the Disney Studio park because the park was about to close. It closes at 7pm and they did not have a fireworks display before the 1st of July. My heart sank when the lady with the costume at the ticketing counter told me.

But than again, hell yeah I was at Disneyland!!

It was like a dream come true. When sometimes you doubt your dreams but than again, ten years ago, I would never imagined I would even step foot there.

So we ventured our dreams till or feet hurt like hell. (Not like they did not hurt the day before).

There were children dressed up as princesses, pirates and even buzz lightyear. Their eyes all gleaming and sparkling. Waving at cartoon characters on the mini parade trains most sitting on their dads shoulders.

Everything was so pretty and done right to impress all dream wondering visitors. We even waited in line to take pictures with mickey mouse (very important). We were so excited we made so much noise in line.

The rest of the pictures will tell the amazing tale of Disney.

The Parade was the awesome-sten. I felt tears in my eyes when they played the Disney intro, you know the one before a Disney movie when a silver lining curves upon the castle *waa~~*

I am pretty short so I had to hold my camera up high to take pictures.

Even the Prince and Princesses looked real! Now I wanna work in Disneyland hopefully to fall in love with prince charming.

And who says dreams don't come true?
now back to reality

A.Toast.To.Friendship

"Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow
Don't walk behind me, I may not lead
Just walk beside me and be my friend."
~ Albert Carnus~

After years of friendship, who new that we would be together in Paris.. Together in Paris is a theme from Disney's Anastasia that Manda keeps on singing. Than again, who in their right mind would have thought that this was possible? After much of memories, we though our friendship  will be only till that. That is till that day came.

In an occasion on past present and future birthday celebrations and celebrations of friendship, we decided on have THE dinner.

The concept of THE Dinner.
Formality, a nice restaurant, fine wine and good food. A celebration to all things in life. To us that is.

When someone had this idea of THE dinner, I was like ok both of you have to bring heels because we all have to dress up nicely (extra weight on the shoulders). Than, it was I who did not bring it cos I'm sick of my shoes, thus decided to buy new ones. Than we went to this shop to buy shoes, and this really nice lady recommended us a nice place for dinner.

We dressed up, looked our best and killed our feet in killer shoes which had a history after that. Our reservation at 2030hrs and we looked so adult. Maybe in a way we looked young because most who were in the place were in their mid ages.

THE dinner was at a restaurant named  Wepler which is a really classy French restaurant and it's specialty is seafood. How could I say no to that right? Eating fresh seafood out of an iced tray does not even seems to bother me. Now that I think about it, it's like eating out of the display in a coldstorage. For a classy place, we ate like we were in Topspot having seafood.

I should recommend anyone going there to have the seafood bar which is made our or fresh crabs, prawns, muscles and snails. The snails were the best. No, there was no scene of flying snails out of it's shell like in Pretty Woman. Inside I was praying so hard that my meal will not be flying everywhere.

an original French Flambe for dessert

We had wine, fine food and a great time with amazingly superb French service. Whoever says French people are a proud bunch have not experienced real French hospitality.

After dinner, we took a stroll back to our Hostel and there was this super long line of people waiting to watch the Cabaret. There was also a crowd which had just finished the first session of shows.

We took our time to take pretty pictures and played with the wind blowing effect. Mine never worked out. So I won't be showing any of those pics. =)

Than again for that day, my shoes became legendary.

Paris.Je t'aime

Paris has it's long list of historic times, the result for today's strong standing structures and world known architecture. The Eiffel Tower, The Northe Dame and The Arc de Triomphe. Still having a long list, I did not visit it all.

We followed a free tour which met at St. Michel at 1100hrs. It was a 3 hour tour which brought us to various places including Northe Dame, The Louvre and the Palais Royal. We didn't get to go in any of the buildings cos there was no enough time. In the middle of the tour after the Palais Royal, we did not continue our tour instead we went to have lunch and got lost in Paris. Much of getting lost in Paris is being in a makeup store choosing colors and entering cute little confectionery shops.

a pretty sight no?
there goes pollution
see those different intoxicated expressions molded on the bridge
care being drunk in a kings party? you'll get one too
the building of the immortal : people who works only on Thursday to keep the French language alive
of everlasting love, lovers lock padlocks on this bridge
but than again, after a few months, the authority cut them out an throw them away
too modern for those times, I'm sure you would recognize this structure
The Louvre

Than it started to rain and Starbucks will always be our live saver. Our feet could not take us any longer and we we physically drained. So we went back to have another occasion for the night.

We headed off to see the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower the next day after our Disney experience. All else seems boring after our Disney experience. With our tired feet, we pushed ourselves to meet Mr Eiffel because the next day we were already leaving Paris. Going to Paris without stepping on the Eiffel ground is not Paris.
