Casablanca, Morocco

In 1942, the movie Casablanca was released. Since then, the first thing that comes to mind when people say Casablanca would be a film in black and white.

In the African Continent, Casablanca is one of the city where all the rich people from every part of the world reside. Including a palace for the King of Saudi Arabia looking towards the coast of the Atlantic ocean. Don't be fooled by those beautiful Villas along the way to the beach. Those are just for the middle class people. There's a so called Casablanca California for the upper class blings.

A more modern city compared to Marrakech, Casablanca is busy in everyway. With tall sky scrapers, jammed roads and its busy ports, Casablanca is very Kuala Lumpur like. It houses both the 7th largest Mosque in the World and North Africas biggest mall, the Morocco Mall.

A stroll and lunch along the La Corniche would give you a hint about life in the big city. Lined up with clubs, international fast food outlets, and people in their running gear jogging along the coast and taking their dogs for a walk. This is the place.

This is one Mosque you could never miss while here. Amazing in both structure and architechture. Entrance fees are 120 Dirhams for Adults and half price for students. We didn't get to enter because we were ripped off by taxi drivers. But we did have a good time sitting around and admiring the place. I believe the Mosque in Putra jaya was inspired by this particular one here.
