My Love, My Kuching

Its been a month since i left Kuching after my last summer break. I'll tell you one thing. Nowhere else beats my hometown, not even living in a foreign land. I can't tell if i'm home sick or not. its just another feeling that makes me think that home is always where my heart is, no matter how far or how strong my financial stability is...

Kuching is just plain old Kuching, but the fact that you can't get it anywhere else makes you love it more. Yes, it may not have a handfull of glorious shopping malls, nor does the road expands itself widely in all directions. We Kuching-ites love it plain simple cos as my best friend says, a simple life is a happy life. That is very true.

And why I miss Kuching now is because during my 2 months break, I got to learn something new. Due to the pursuation of my sister and how she dances, I got hooked to belly dancing which is so super extremely cool! if only there were belly dancing classes in Landshut itself insted of going all the way down to muenchen. We here do not have the freedom of semester tickets like those in Hessen.

Most of the time spend at home was 'at home'. I woke up, cooked, watch tv, clean, wash clothes, makes me feel like a house wife. If only I had a rich husband.. if only.. I even had to baby-sit every Thursday when my cousins don't have their babysitter on-call. So spending my time, I made them make pineapple tarts with me.

On my wish-lists of recipes, I spent time baking cheesecakes and once, make apple pie which the crust really sucks and just crumbles. Well, i am a first timer. I have never baked in the comforts of my own home kitchen. Last I did it, I burnt my sister cakes. How should I know that it was a grill button??

I've hardly tasted Ayam Penyet before. Some might go "what??", LOL. Ok. So mummy brought us for dinner at The Baruk. its a dining place across the Sarawak River with the Baruk House concept. the Baruk is a Bidayuh traditional house. nope, its not owned by a Bidayuh but a Malay. Bidayuhs won't survive business. but anyway, I got my Ayam Penyet. Nyum... but a better Ayam Penyet will be next to the town Mosque as recomemded by a hardcore fan who is Rabiaal. Having dinner across the river, we could not waste the scenary of Kuching Waterfront. We even saw a fisherman cathing fish.. so homely the feeling..

One Saturday, Mummy brought us for a make-up session in Aunty Junes house. It was so cool cos we got to play with all the makeup, which was from Bloop de Paris. Like a kindergarten coloring session! wee~~ so cool right? they thought us how to apply makeup and stuff.. Im still a noob at this, cos in my perception, engineers don't need all that. But than again, who does'nt want to look pretty?

Of course there were also times I went out with friends and had our life talks. We had dinner and karaoke, we had our club sessions, drinking sessions, beach-out times and badminton!! Me, Eli n Freda decided to meet up for dinner but Eli has badminton after that. So i decided that we go follow her. And Freda sat there the whole time laughing at me play!! Bad Freda. So I will conclude that next time, I'll go play badminton alone with Eli and leave Freda to eat at Jln Song. The thing about us being Malaysians is that our meet-ups always has to inculde food!! We Malaysians are Food Junkies! We also had a mini class reunion dinner which only about 10 of us turned up. Glad you girls did!! I really miss my highschool moments!

My Sister and her friendsReunion dinner at Topspot

This is the Santubong Beach, which we transpassed the resort to get in.. quite sucluded but its so pretty!! Not forgetting hot in the blazing sun! We just sat around to have lunch. No one went for a swim.
felix's stolen mariachi hat

And lets not forget my family time!! We had a BBQ at Sg Adis which is in Bau. A reserved place where you can even have a place to stay overnight. A real autenthic bidayuh setting. They have rafts and big tyres for you to play in the river with. Its rm2 per person I think.. The place really looks like some Sarawak Tourism setting..

Nice right?

And that's why Kuching will always be my home..

Lieb der Schweiz... Luzern

We warmly welcome ourselves to Luzern!! A beautiful.. really, really beautiful place to be in.

Accommodation : Lion Lodge Lucerne (far cheaper and more comfortable than in Zuerich)

Soo... what did we do in Luzern? You will never find peace after being in Switzerland if you never met the peaks of its mountains and its wondrous scenery. All pictures are not edited.
We got ourselves pumped up (not much la..) and sat on a cable car to bring ourselves up the peak of this highest peak in Luzern which is Mount Pilatus. I've forgotten how much we had to pay for the pransport but the lady at thecounter asked Annds age. We should have told her 16 than we could get half price. ngehehee..

Legends said it that this mountain was guarded by a dragon or somewhat along that story. There was a king or a bishop. I could'nt recall. I can't tell much about this mountain but I'll let the pictures do the talking.

On the 2nd platform.. there we various activities done here. they even had a 5m tobbogan track if im not mistaken. Did'nt have the time to go on it though..

In the cable car, we could hear sounds of cow bells the whole way. We also saw some people trackking all the way up! Respectable lads! Finally we are on top!! Yay!! Just the ride up was so amazing. Our eyes were so cleared from the bad evil world! haha.. On top, it was even more. we could see the top of the othe mountains including Jungfraujoch and the Alps.

They had these men playing the Swiss Horns, which was very traditional, not forgetting cool..

Still, we had more pictures to take..After our tiring expedition up to watch the amazing creation of God, we had to have lunch. And we had Fani to bring us!! Yay!! fani is our Indonesian friend who studies Culinary in Switzerland. Cool aye? She learns to make swiss chocs ya know...

Fani brought us for lunch in a Korean Buffet restaurant. More to that, buffet hour was almost over. The tawkeyneo let us have everything and even cooked us extra Chicken with some korean sauce. We took everything on the buffet and made ourselves so oh so greedy!! We were bloated!

After our over the edge Korean Buffet lunch, we had our own local to bring us for the city tour. We went chocolate shopping, watch shopping, souvinier shopping, sight seeing, fed ducks

And finally a dream for all chocoholics!! Presenting the TOBLERONE chocolate fondue... You just can't hold back your saliva to this amazing piece of art which is served in the Fondue House. Thinking if it makes me drool.. served with bread and fruits, you can dip your fingers in a taste thats so heavenly! This is my love for Switzerland!!

I'm so in Love with you~~

We than mencilok the bread that we did not finish and gave the ducks a luxurious dinner on our little paddle boat. hehee.. renting a paddle boat is around 10CHF for 30min if i'm not mistaken. We had sunburn due to our lake venture. hee~~

Look at those happy faces, not forgetting the happy swans

Lastly we went to the Lion Monument which i was really amazed with. I thought it was just a tiny lion craved into a stone. But whoa.. it was huge!! My camera battery died on the was there so I did'nt have any photos of it. Ill upload some once i get it.

All in all... a great big advice.. visit Switzerland to be amazed with what it has to offer you! I'll sure be back one day.. one day meine Liebe..

Lieb der Schweiz... Zuerich

Date : 27th -30th July 2009
Mode of Transport : DeutscheBahn (German Railways) Special fare of 50euros for two ways
Travel Hours : 6 hours on the ICE from Landshut
Accommodation : Biber Backpackers, cheapest hostel in Zuerich. you can't find any other

Zuerich is a great and not forgetting expensive place to be. You would not want to go there if you don't have the cash to spend. With its high streets and personal yachts, this is the life of the rich and famous baby! Expensive dine outs, complimented with handmade chocolate truffles. You can imagine how it is. We only managed to survive a day here. But nevertheless, it was our first sight of the wonders of this amazing place. Everywhere I turned looked like a desktop wallpaper. The scenary I mean.

There was also little noble streets that catered to normal people like us but still price-wise, on the high-end. On the way to our Backpackers Lodge we slit in between little streets and old buildings. Brightly lit at night, these little taverns were filled with music and tourists. Along these rows were also clubs and much x-rated clubs with pictures of naked ladies slapped on thier windows. Funny thing was when we were on our travellers feet early the first morning, we came across and old man in his 60s staring closely at those pictures. teringatkan masa muda maybe. And one thing about this clubs is that they advertise their 'escorts' to escort you home after a fun night. Some maybe interested. I'll pass. Further down the street I saw a shocking scene. There was a lady on the ground in a dress. standing around her was a man and another lady. I was confused until I heard the man counting. He counted to three and the other lady in kneehigh boots kicked the lady on the ground. OMG *close eyes* I need to blah. It was just to scary for me. The tree of us escaped the next left exit!! Then I thought to myself, why is it that we being humans are afraid to help another in a torturing situation... Lets face it. If I get kicked by those two, I'll die on the spot. I am a small size asian.

So where did we go in Zuerich... out of all the place to go, we went to the... ZOO!!!
It was just a spontaneous idea. But hey, we had fun! so much fun!!
Look at the ass of that thing! its around a hundred years old.. wait till you see its face.
scary rite?

and guess what? I TOUCHED A ILLAMA!! we all had a specific animal to meet in mind. And mine was a Illama. I was so freakin excited!! ngahahaa... so Mr. Illama made my day. But something better made our day!

it needs a kiss.. ngeehehee..
Lets meet Mr. Alpaca

Mr. Alpaca got a new haircut. He has great teeth too!! I can die laughing recalling the first time we met. He's just so horny!! He was peeing by the shade and I was already laughing at him. A certain HIM!! With such warm hospitality like hoteliers study in Switzerland, he greeted me in my face. The three of us just stood there laughing like nobodys business with our newly met friend. I miss you!! So handsome rite?? *gelak terbahak-bahak*

Ok anyway after meeting our friends of another species, we were soo hungry. But then, despite the hunger, we still made time to lepak at the lake. It was a shining hot 1pm summer. After our purchase of Truffles from Lindt-Spruengli. 12CHF for nine Liliput truffles... its not everyday that we eat Swiss truffles in Switzerland. And it was dead GOOD!

We had our lunch at almost 4 after scavaging for real traditional Swiss cuisine. At last we had it at a restaurant below our Backpack Lodge. The price was.. ermm.. but then, it was worth a tradional cuisine. We dined Swiss style!

watch'em drip~

Each of us had a meal. I had Rabbit Raclette, Annd had Traditional Cheese fondue and Acap had Seafood Fondue. A note to those who are going to order a tadional cheese fondue like my dearest friend in blue. Cheese fondue is like having alcohol on its own dipped in bread. It tasted like it was 70% alcohol. But still its good. just save it for the winter. The Seafood fondue was also yummy.. it was like steamboat back home, served withe rice and other condiments. Yo and behold my Rabbit raclette... the top of the thingy in the picture is to grill the meat, below it is a heating element to melt your cheese.. Raclette is all about cheese. Place what you want in the pan and top it with cheese and wait... You'll be having a meal of melted cheese on your plate. Swiss satisfaction...

That evening, we took a train down to Luzern.
Alls well in the big Zuerich city.
